Olympic Park 2012

London is pretty low rise, and the new bulidings take advantage of this to ‘show off’ unusal roof styles. All from nearby the Olympic Park in East London.

A ring of new housing has been developed around the south of the park, along the A11 (High Street) between Bow and Stratford. You can see in this picture, taken in ealy July 08, one partially completed blue glass style apartment block (the taller one with the sloping roof).
More traditional east end architecture is red brick and of course lower rise.

Here are some shots taken from a plane flying out of City airport at the end of August.

They are a bit grainy because of the low clouds but you can make out the arena and also on the second pix the north end of the Olympic Park to be (VIctoria Park in the background).
